On Jan
10, 2008 at 7:30 pm I was driving a semi tractor with double
trailers on Ohio SR 49. I saw a pickup truck come to a stop
at a cross road intersection. The pickup then pulled away
from the stop sign. I was travelling at 55 mph with no time
to slam on the brakes. I slammed into the right side of the
pickup. The cab of my double trailer quickly spun around,
facing the trailers. I was expecting to feel the pain of
being crushed as my truck jackknifed, but the only injury I
had was a dislocated finger. My cab was a total loss.
Before I got out of my cab, I thanked God for my survival,
and prayed for the soul of the other driver.
His
truck was pushed 90 yards by the crash and almost out of
sight in the darkness. As people stopped to help him, I
learned from an ambulance crew that he would be taken to the
closest hospital for treatment. I did not expect the other
driver to survive, but he was out of the hospital in days.
I
believe that while praying the Rosary, the other driver was
saved from certain death and I was saved from serious
injury.
